Russian Seasons for Children: in search of new formats for introducing preschoolers to culture and art

Abstract. The article substantiates modern approaches to the use of art as an important means of preschoolers’ cultural education and their introduction to the basic values of our society. In this context, the most effective approach is the integrative approach, which is defined by the authors from three perspectives: as the integration of different types of art, as the integration of content around a common theme for planning, and as the integration of different types of artistic activity for preschool children. The article reveals the idea and approaches to designing the author’s innovative practice “Russian Seasons for Children.” This practice involves organizing a system of educational events that take place in the senior groups of a kindergarten throughout the month. The “Immersion” stage (first week) involves children’s exposure to works of art and fosters the development of the “Heir” position, which recognizes the importance of preserving the legacy of Russian culture. The “Reflection” stage (second week) aims to deepen children’s artistic perception of works of art, leading to the development of the “Appraiser” position, which recognizes the artistic image as a unique representation of the beauty. The “Creation” stage (third week) requires children to engage in creative artistic and speech activities during the preparation and allows them to master the “Creator” position. The final stage, “Retransmission” (fourth week), revolves around the idea of “Opening the Theater Season in Kindergarten.” As a result, children develop the most complex “Guardian” position, which combines knowledge of the fundamental values of our culture, an understanding of how they are reflected in art, and a willingness to share them with others. Examples of this practice are given on the topic.
